Dais (幻魔将・螺呪羅, Illusion Demon General Rajra), is the oldest of the Four Dark Warlords. Known as the Dark Warlord of Illusion, he served Emperor Talpa and was an enemy of the Ronin Warriors.

Dais is voiced by Matt Smith in the English dub and by Jurota Kosugi in the original Japanese version.

Appearance[]

Dais has white hair and blue eyes. He wears an eyepatch over his left eye. For the duration of the series, he is solely seen in his armor and undergear. Dais' armor is dark pink and brown.

Personality[]

Dais is the tactician of the Dark Warlords. He delights in outthinking his enemies and allies alike and treats his opponents like pawns on a chessboard. As he is the oldest, Dais has the most maturity, which makes him more likely to consider alternatives rather than charge headfirst into battle.

After an encounter with Anubis in the Mortal Realm, Dais becomes the second Warlord to start questioning Talpa. It doesn't help that Lady Kayura wins the Dynasty Emperor's favor shortly afterwards.

Plot[]

The War with Talpa[]

The last Warlord to officially be introduced, Dais has shown from the start that he prioritizes thoughtful planning above most other things. He proved this in his first solo mission when he nearly succeeded in tricking the Ronin's into attacking each other but was foiled when Kento realized they were being tricked and defeated the Warlord.

During several of his next few appearances, Dais mainly acted as support with the other Warlords as they attempted to get Anubis back to the Dynasty. When the Ronin's invaded the Dynasty, Dais had cornered Kento and Rowen but Kento allowed himself to be the main opponent to the Illusion warrior so Rowen could get away. He, Kale, and Sekhmet later willingly gave their power to Talpa so he could regain his physical body.

It wasn't until the Ronin's began venturing out to discover their spirits that Dais re-appeared. He and the Sand Strikers were able to fight Kento and informed him that Cye and Sage were currently in the clutches of the Dynasty. Not believing the Warlord about his friends, Kento allowed himself to be brought into the Dynasty in an attempt to save them but was captured as well.

After Lady Kayura makes several appearances, Dais shares his thoughts with Sekhmet and Kale that they notice Talpa is favoring Kayura and does not depend on them as much anymore. While the Warlords continued to serve Talpa an prove their worth, Dais saw he and the others were pawns in Talpa's plan but also acknowledged that his own selfishness and greed brought him to that point.

Once the warriors were freed, Dais joined the Ronin's in wanting to stop Talpa. When the battle was over, Dais accompanied Kayura, Kale, and Sekhmet in leaving the mortal realm.

Armor and Powers[]

Web of Deception

The Armor of Illusion, or the Armor of the Spiders, is a representation of the Summer season. It has the power to create extremely realistic visions and allows Dais to camouflage himself. His weapon is a combination of six scythes, which can either extend or be used to create large webs. Also, a morning star and a nunchuka can be found on the arm guards. The Spider armor's special attack is "Tochimou" (which translates as Spiderweb Cast," but was changed to "Web of Deception" in the dub).

If Dais were to use his armor for good, he could use his illusion power to calm the troubled mind.

Relationships[]

  • Kento of Hardrock: Due to the number of times they have faced each other, Kento is widely believed to be Dais' main rival. Dais often uses Kento's brash and impulsive nature against him which usually works to his advantage.
  • Talpa: As one of the Warlords, Dais gave Talpa his loyalty and obedience. He strived to please Talpa in any way he could and showed great concern and shame when he failed. When Dais was freed from Talpa's control, he did what he could to help stop him.
  • Lady Kayura: Like Kale and Anubis, Dais did not like Kayura as she appears to have been Talpa's favorite from the start and had been given special treatment and abilities the Warlords themselves never saw.

Trivia[]
